What is Self Storage?

Self storage is a service that allows individuals and businesses to rent a secure space for their belongings.

Customers are provided with this extra space for any items they need to store outside of their homes.

Tenants have access to their secured self storage unit(s) during gate hours and can choose to store their belongings for both short and long-term periods of time.

Self storage is typically rented on a month-to-month basis to satisfy the needs of the customer during their move.

What Are The Different Types Of Storage?

Outdoor - Drive-Up Access

Traditional outdoor storage units allow you to pull your moving truck or vehicle directly next to your unit to move in and out of your storage space for easy, frequent use.

Indoor - Drive-Through Access

Located inside a large building, these indoor units are accessible as easily as outdoor units but protect you from the outside elements. Customers find these extremely convenient during the cold and rainy winter months.

Indoor Access

Indoor climate-controlled units are available on multiple levels of the facility and can be accessed by elevator. With moving carts and storage bins, storing your belongings is a quick and easy process.

Why Do I Need Self Storage?

Moving is most likely the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “self-storage.” It’s true; many people use self-storage for this reason exactly. Whether you’re moving down the road or moving out of state, renting a unit is convenient, if not necessary. Here are a couple of scenarios that might entail renting a storage unit during your move:

Your new place isn’t large enough for your current belongings.

Maybe you're moving into a smaller home and don’t have the same amount of storage as your previous home. Renting a unit near your new residence will make it easy to access your belongings.

Closing dates have changed.

If you are selling and buying a new home, your schedule might not align perfectly. Closing dates are often pushed back for various reasons, and you may need to rent a storage unit during that period.

Storing Cherished Items

Heirlooms, antiques, and other sentimental items can be protected by storing them in a self storage unit. This could also pertain to any valuable furniture or household items you want to hang onto for future use. Many tenants want to free up space and improve the layout of their homes without giving up furniture or decorations that mean something to them.

Renovating your home takes time and space. During the process, clearing out a room for construction might be essential to complete your project. No one wants paint drops, dust, or other debris on their valuable items! Storing belongings for a short time is easy and stress-free with a small self storage unit.

Storing Items for Safety

Sometimes the garage, basement, or attic isn’t good enough. These rooms usually don’t have air conditioning and often get stuffy, dirty, or even damp. Storing in these spots may cause damage to your furniture, clothing, and pictures. Finding a climate-controlled storage unit will provide a safer option for your valuables.

Vehicle Storage

If you don’t have enough room for multiple vehicles in your garage, finding indoor or even outdoor parking is an easy fix. This includes any vehicle, such as a boat, RV, motorcycle, classic car, etc. At STORExpress, we offer 24/7 access, keypad access, month-to-month contracts, and surveillance on-site to protect your vehicle(s)!

Going to College

Going away to college brings a lot of challenges. Storage can make moving in and moving out of your dorm or apartment easier. Storing your belongings in a storage facility during summer breaks will save you time and money as opposed to moving all of your furniture and items back home for a few months.

Packing for college can also be tricky. Student storage makes it easy for them to store school supplies, books, clothing, furniture, and other necessities when needed.

At STORExpress, we offer a pallet-based storage service. This means all your stuff goes onto a pallet (typically on the small side) and is then kept in a shared warehouse. Students can also rent personal lockers or a variety of storage unit sizes to have access to their items. Getting a larger unit and sharing it with friends is a great way to keep costs low and store more.

Wine Storage

Wine must be kept at a consistent and cool temperature to ensure it matures properly without damage. The wine storage area should be between 50–60 degrees Fahrenheit year-round to protect your wine from extreme temperature fluctuation. Wine storage units also control humidity levels, keeping the humidity between 50 and 70 percent to ensure the safety of your wine.

STORExpress offers wine storage with 24-hour access. Your fine wines will be kept in an insulated, climate-controlled area that meets any collector or restaurant owner’s needs.
